A total of 1,974 people have been killed, including 127 children, and 9,384 injured since the start of the Israeli attacks on Lebanon over the last year, the country's Health Minister Firass Abiad said on Thursday.
Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023, when Hezbollah started launching rockets at Israel in solidarity with Hamas in Gaza, triggering retaliatory Israeli artillery fire and air strikes in southeastern Lebanon.
Confrontations between Lebanon and Israel have sharply escalated after the latter announced a shift in military focus from the Gaza Strip to the northern front in mid-September.
