In retaliation for a series of Israeli actions in Iran, Lebanon and Palestine, Iran launched ballistic missiles at key Israeli military and security targets on the evening of October 1. Iranian media reported that more than 200 missiles were fired. Israeli residents reported seeing "fireballs" across the night sky and hearing sirens blaring throughout much of the country. Israelis, who should be immersed in the atmosphere of the Jewish New Year, or Rosh Hashanah, which began on October 2, rushed to shelters. CGTN Stringer Arthur Vernes, in Tel Aviv, went to a café after work that day. After hearing the alarm, he went outside to the street and witnessed the attack alongside the locals. Vernes says that if all the parties involved do the right things today, they will have peace tomorrow.
