Talking about Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), some may argue that these two have juxtaposed ideologies and methodologies. However, for Maria Jobran, an Afghan Gen Zer pursuing her Master's degree at Hebei Medical University, she finds balance between learning Western medical knowledge in psychosomatic diseases of neurology while practicing Tai Chi and Baduanjin impacted by TCM.
"Learning Tai Chi and Baduanjin actually helps me understand that it's not all about how you treat your symptoms, but it's also about how you maintain your health for the long run. It actually helps you connect your mind and body together, and it's a way of mindfulness and inner peace," Jobran observed.
