The autumn sun was captured reflected in the shimmering waters of the Emerald Lake in Mangya City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, October 6, 2024. The mirror-like surface of the lake presented an array of colors, from white and light green to emerald green and dark green, all sparkling and colorful, creating a breathtaking and enchanting sight for visitors.
The third largest artificial lake in Haixi Prefecture, Emerald Lake covers an area of more than 26 square kilometers. The waters in this former mining site are rich in potassium, magnesium, lithium and other elements. Due to the alternating and transparent reflections of light green, emerald green and deep blue lake water in the salt beds, it is known locally as Feicui Lake, or Emerald Lake.
