Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed on Monday to bring back all hostages still being held in Gaza as Israel marked the first anniversary of the October 7 attack by the Hamas group.
"On this day, in this place, and in many places across our country, we remember our dead, our hostages, whom we are obligated to bring back, and our heroes who fell in defense of the homeland and the nation. We went through a terrible massacre a year ago," Netanyahu said in a statement released by his office.
Israel said Hamas has killed some 1,200 people and taken about 250 hostages since October 7 last year. Meanwhile, according to the Palestinian health authorities, nearly 42,000 people have been killed in Gaza, and most of the 2.3 million population has been displaced.
