China's first domestically developed large cruise ship, Adora Magic City, has completed 64 voyage services, transporting more than 250,000 passengers since its maiden voyage on January 1, 2024, according to the China State Shipbuilding Corporation on Monday.
On Monday, Adora Magic City returned to its home port in Shanghai after a successful seven-day, six-night "National Day" themed cruise, carrying more than 5,000 tourists from home and abroad.
This was the 64th voyage operated by the ship, marking a significant improvement in its operational efficiency and popularity.
Next year, Adora Magic City, along with Mediterranea, another cruise ship operated by Adora Cruises, will launch year-round operations from six home ports, offering nearly 170 international cruise routes to meet the diverse travel needs of domestic and international guests.

The second homegrown large cruise ship has also taken shape, with an expected delivery time by the end of 2026.
Hailed as the "pearl in the crown" of the shipbuilding industry, cruise vessel manufacturing is among the most intricate and complicated processes. The delivery of Adora Magic City marks the moment China has achieved all three "pearls" in the shipbuilding industry, alongside large liquefied natural gas carriers and aircraft carriers.
