Lai Ching-te, leader of the Taiwan region again advocated the "two states" theory, asserting that the two sides of the Straits do not belong to each other during his speech on Thursday. Since taking office, Lai has frequently raised various "Taiwan independence" fallacies. Lai's consistent search for "Taiwan independence" risks undermining peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits and threatening Taiwan's own security. No matter how the political situation in Taiwan changes, it will not change the historical and legal facts that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one China, and the historical trend that China will eventually and inevitably be reunified. Any fancy attempt to seek "Taiwan independence" will be in vain, and anyone who plays with fire will get burned, too.
