China announced countermeasure against U.S. military companies for arms sales to Taiwan region on Thursday. For a long time, the U.S. has continuously offered military assistance and arms sales to the region. The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities have been spending vast sums of money on weapons from U.S. arms dealers, draining the pockets of the local people while allowing these dealers to make a fortune. Having sent a dangerous signal to separatist forces by arming the region but claiming that it does not support "Taiwan independence" and hoping no party takes unilateral action to change the status quo, Washington has always been duplicitous on the Taiwan question which has seriously damaged U.S.- China relations.
