"Zanhuawei" is a traditional female headdress that originates from Xunpu Village of Quanzhou City, southeast China's Fujian Province. Local women grow their hair long enough to put it back in a bun, tie it using a red thread and secure it with a bone hairpin. "Zanhuawei" consists of a wreath of flowers or buds strung together with one or two rings, sometimes even up to five, with a bun at the center. With the circle worn at the back of the head, this headwear is figuratively referred to as a flowing "head garden." In this video, Hu Ke, a young woman from Quanzhou, returns to her hometown Xunpu Village, to record the process of making this kind of beautiful floral headdresses.
