A locomotive crashed into the tail of a Cairo-bound passenger train on Sunday morning in southern Egypt, according to local media reports.
The incident occurred in the Minya province, located 270 kilometers south of Cairo, as stated by the railway authority. Two railway carriages fell into an adjacent canal.
The Health Ministry later reported that at least 20 people were taken to hospitals, while local media outlet Cairo 24 reported that the body of one victim has been recovered.
The cause of the collision remains unclear.
