New car models unveiled at 2024 Paris Auto Show

The 2024 Paris Auto Show, Europe's largest automotive event, kicked off on October 14, featuring a strong lineup of electric vehicles (EVs). Running until October 20, the event marks its 90th edition, with around 50 European and global premieres. Major manufacturers are showcasing their latest electric models.

China's BYD is unveiling the Sea Lion 07, a mid-sized electric SUV. The company will also present the luxury, plug-in hybrid SUV, the Yangwang U8, capable of floating in water and maneuvering sideways.

Fellow Chinese automaker GAC is launching the second generation of its compact electric crossover SUV, the Aion V, boasting a range of 750 kilometers.

FAW's Hongqi, or Red Flag, will launch its imposing luxury electric range, including the 5.2-meter-long E-HS9 and the EH7 and EHS7 models.

Nine Chinese brands, including Leapmotor and XPeng, are presenting new models at the show.

European manufacturers are also making headlines.

Renault will reveal the electric R4 SUV, a modern take on its iconic 1960s model, while Volkswagen will premiere the seven-seater Tayron SUV, available in hybrid versions. Alpine, Renault's sports brand, is showcasing the A390 fastback concept, its second fully electric model.

Big names, such as Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai and Volvo, are notable absentees, opting to sit out the event.
