Some Chinese astronomy enthusiasts captured a comet streaking across the sky in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, shortly after sunset on October 14. It's the Purple Mountain-ATLAS comet, named after the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which first observed it in early 2023. It's been hailed as the most anticipated comet of the year. Experts say the comet has an extremely long orbital period of around 60,000 years.
