The United Nations Security Council has convened several closed-door meetings to discuss the unfolding situation in Lebanon. The 15-member council has urged all parties to respect the safety and security of UN peacekeepers. Israel is urging UNIFIL peacekeepers in southern Lebanon to evacuate again. James M. Dorsey, adjunct senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies under Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, said the evacuation suggests Israel's clear intention of not welcoming international monitors of its actions.
