A Chinese mainland spokesperson on Tuesday again criticized Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te's speech on October 10, calling the remarks deceitful and dangerous.
Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the comments in response to a question about Lai's latest speech.
Chen pointed out that since taking power, Lai has stubbornly insisted on his separatist stance of "Taiwan independence" and has continued to provoke the one-China principle.
Lai's speech is a dangerous and destructive confession of his attempts to seek "Taiwan independence," Chen noted.
The spokesperson also slammed Lai's speech for deliberately severing historical ties across the Taiwan Straits and hollowing out the one-China principle.
The speech attempts to mobilize Taiwan society for the pursuit of "Taiwan independence," Chen pointed out, adding that the so-called promotion of Taiwan's "sovereign independence" remarks is changing the nature of cross-Straits relations, challenging the fact and legal basis that Taiwan is part of China.
The current struggle against "Taiwan separatism" is essentially a fight against secession and a fight for national unity, Chen stressed.
He mentioned the series of resolute and forceful countermeasures that the mainland has taken over the past few days, noting that they are all just acts adopted by a sovereign state to punish separatist acts and to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
With each provocation by the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, the countermeasures will advance one step further until China's complete reunification, Chen warned.
