For the Dong people, their drum towers hold a special significance. They serve as a symbol of each clan within the village, where each family has its own unique tower and their number indicates the number of major clans in the community. Beyond its symbolic role, a drum tower is a hub where meetings, gatherings and entertainment take place. In winter, you'll often find a fire burning inside, where the elders gather to warm themselves, chat and play chess.
