The sixth World Buddhist Forum opens today in eastern China's Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. This year's theme is 'hand in hand for coexistence'. Yu Li reports.
Organizers say the theme 'Hand in hand for coexistence' shows how all things that are valuable are interconnected.
MASTER MINGHAI, Vice President, Buddhist Association of China "Buddhism holds that nothing is independent, closed, or self-dominated. Not only are people, society and nature linked, but so are nations."
YU LI, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province "According to the organizer, the theme highlights Buddhist responses to today's global challenges and calls for a peaceful and harmonious world."
MASTER MINGHAI, Vice President, Buddhist Association of China "We hope the world will never fight between people, let alone wars between countries. We don't want unilateralism or hegemony. This is our common pursuit."
Around 800 Buddhist practitioners, scholars, and guests from about 70 nations will attend the forum. Yu Li, CGTN, Ningbo in Zhejiang Province.
