From oil to hydrogen: How a Beijing refinery pioneers green energy

China is set to contribute nearly 60 percent of all new renewable energy capacity installed worldwide by 2030, according to a new report by the International Energy Agency. Part of this growth comes from revamping oil refineries to produce hydrogen. Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Company, established in the early 1970s as the capital's only refinery, has now transformed into a leading producer of hydrogen, considered a cleaner alternative to fossil fuel.
