On the final day of the ISSF World Cup Final, Qi Ying added another gold medal for China in the men's trap final with 47 hits on Thursday.
The 27-year-old Qi was the only Chinese shooter in the trap discipline at the season-ending event. He made all of his first 35 targets to secure a medal with only three shooters left, and continued to lead throughout the final to claim his maiden title at the event. India's Vivaan Kapoor won silver, three hits behind, and N Tolga Tuncer from Türkiye rounded out the podium.
This was the first title in men's trap for China at a World Cup Final. Previously, Qi had given China another first this summer in Paris, by winning the country's first Olympic medal in this discipline.
After three days of competition, China topped the medal tally with five gold and three bronze medals. Italy sat second with one gold, three silvers and one bronze, followed by Germany with one gold and two silvers.
"This is my maiden World Cup Final title, and it feels like it's just the beginning for me. I hope to get better and better in future training and competitions. I had a relatively stable performance in the first half of this year, but still, I didn't reach any final in major competitions. I believe my experience from the Paris Olympics and this World Cup Final can help me improve my training and mentality," said Qi after the final.
