Anna Malindog-Uy, vice president of the Asian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute, highlighted the diversity of the Global South as a source of strength and learning while addressing attendees at the Global South Think Tanks Forum in Beijing. Despite their differences, Global South countries share a unifying force rooted in a common history of colonization and the collective pursuit of decolonization, she noted, adding that these countries are redefining themselves as independent nations, capable of shaping their own futures. Malindog-Uy also emphasized the convergence of challenges these countries face, such as poverty alleviation, development, climate change, and geopolitical issues, which further strengthens their bond despite their diversity.
