Britain's King Charles III touched down in Australia on Friday, kicking off his most strenuous foreign trip since his cancer diagnosis eight months ago.
The 75-year-old monarch and his wife, Queen Camilla, landed in a rain-soaked Sydney and were greeted by local dignitaries and posy-bearing children.
The couple later met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his partner, Jodie Haydon, at Admiralty House, a historic government residence overlooking Sydney Harbor and the Opera House, where they will be staying.
King Charles is making his inaugural visit to an overseas realm as sovereign, marking his first major foreign trip since being diagnosed with cancer.
He will spend nine days in Australia and Samoa, with the itinerary featuring a public barbecue, famed landmarks, and reminders about pressing climate challenges.
Earlier, the royal couple wrote on the social media platform X, "We are really looking forward to returning to this beautiful country to celebrate the extraordinarily rich cultures and communities that make it so special."
