Beijing Guoan walked over Qingdao 6-0 at home on Saturday, securing their 15th win in the 2024 Chinese Super League (CSL) season, staying fourth in the table.
Fabio Abreu was the best-performing player of the night after scoring one goal and setting up four assists for Beijing. He first used a header to assist Cao Yongjing to score the first goal for the home team in the 18th minute. Eight minutes later, both of Lin Liangming's shots were blocked, but the ball flew to the front of the goal where Abreu headed it in to extend Beijing's lead to 2-0.
Two minutes into the second half, Abreu broke into the box from the right and found Lin at the far post before Lin shot to score Beijing's third goal from close range. In the 60th minute, the home team intercepted the opponents' pass in the midfield and launched quick attack from the left wing via Abreu. He passed it to Cao who netted for the second time, giving their side a four-goal lead.
Abreu's fourth assist came six minutes later when he set up a good opportunity for Lin with a through pass. Though Qingdao's goalkeeper Mu Pengfei touched the ball, he couldn't stop it from translating into Beijing's fifth goal. The visitors then allowed their sixth goal in the 89th minute when defender Liu Jiashen blocked a pass into his own goal.
Changchun Yatai swept Qingdao West Coast 4-0 in Changchun, northeast China's Jilin Province for their eighth win of the season.
The home team scored their first goal in the 43rd minute via a header by Stoppila Sunzu. Robert Beric extended their lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute. The video assistant referee (VAR) had to intervene on both occasions for the goals to be awarded.
Beric continued to make offensive contributions for Changchun as the game went on. In the 61st minute, he attracted attention from most defenders before passing to Serginho who netted for the team to lead 3-0. Then during stoppage time, Serginho passed it to Beric in the box for him to add his second goal of the game and seal a commanding victory.
