The 16th BRICS Summit is scheduled to take place in Kazan, Russia, from October 22 to 24, 2024. Originally known as BRIC, the intergovernmental organization was formed by Brazil, Russia, India and China. In December 2010, South Africa joined the group, officially changing the name to BRICS. Since January 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have also joined BRICS.
Since then, the BRICS cooperation mechanism has expanded significantly, encompassing areas such as the economy, trade, finance, and science and technology. It also functions as a comprehensive framework for practical collaboration in various fields, including agriculture, culture, education, healthcare and think tanks. Through these efforts, BRICS has emerged as a constructive force, fostering global economic growth, enhancing governance, and promoting the democratization of international relations.
