Shanghai, Jiangsu win Chinese domestic team championships

Shanghai Municipality came back to defeat Heilongjiang Province 3-1 to win the men's team gold medal at the All China Table Tennis Championships in Ordos, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on Saturday.

Wei Shihao and Wang Bo played for Heilongjiang first against Xu Xin and Zhou Kai in the men's doubles match. Though Xu and Zhou clinched the first game 11-4, Wei and Wang took three straight games 12-10, 11-8, 11-6 to win the battle and for their side to lead 1-0 in the final.

Shanghai sent Fan Zhendong in the men's singles match of the second round against Xu Yingbin. Fan swept Xu aside 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 to tie the total score 1-1.

Zhou faced Wang in the second singles competition. Wang claimed the first two games 11-7, 14-12, but then blew his lead in front of the sharp rally from Zhou, who took the following three games 11-9, 11-8, 11-7. Shanghai led 2-1 and were one win away from lifting the trophy.

The fourth match was between Xu Xin and Xu Yingbin. Xu Yingbin had a great start by clinching the first two games 11-7, 11-4. However, Xu Xin bounced back with remarkable resilience to take three consecutive games 11-9, 11-3, 11-4, delivering the final victory for Shanghai.

Jiangsu Province edged Shanghai 3-2 in the women's team final. Shi Xunyao and Qian Tianyi beat Yang Yiyun and Sun Mingyang 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 in the first women's doubles match for Jiangsu to lead 1-0.

Kuai Man edged Chen Yi 8-11, 12-10, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9 in the second match, extending Jiangsu's lead to 2-0. Nonetheless, Sun and Chen then dominated Qian and Shi respectively in the following two singles battles, dragging the final into the decisive final match between Kuai and Yang. Kuai outlasted the opponent 11-8, 5-11, 11-9, 11-5 for Jiangsu to win the title.
