The ancient water town of Wuzhen in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, was teeming with visitors at the weekend following the opening of the 11th Wuzhen Theater Festival on October 17. Tourists from across China and around the world came to soak up the culture and drama of the festival amid the stunning autumn scenery of Wuzhen.

The festival, which runs until October 27, features 24 plays in 86 performances by troupes from 11 countries.

As an ancient water town with a millennium of history and heritage, Wuzhen is now a bridge for cultural communication, bringing together artists from different global backgrounds through the "power of theater."
