McDonald's Quarter Pounders linked to deadly E. coli outbreak

One person has died in the United States as a result of an E. coli food poisoning outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder hamburgers. Around 50 people in 10 states have been taken ill, including 10 who were hospitalized. The fatality was an older person in Colorado, and one child has been hospitalized with severe kidney complications. Infections were reported between September 27 and October 11 in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Everyone interviewed in connection with the outbreak reported eating at McDonald's before falling ill and most mentioned eating Quarter Pounder hamburgers. The U.S. Agriculture Department, the Food and Drug Administration and state health officials are investigating.
