China's Qian Tianyi beat top-seeded compatriot Wang Yidi 11-7, 11-9, 13-11 to clinch her spot in the quarterfinals of the WTT Champions Montpellier in France.
Qian got into the groove early and took the first game 11-7 when Wang hit the net.
The duo faced each other twice this year and both won once. This time in Montpellier, world number 21 Qian was dominant and led 4-3 in the second game.
Wang then whiffed a shot and Qian won the game 11-9 to go up 2-0.
Qian maintained her momentum in the third where the 24-year-old wrapped things up 13-11 when Wang hit wide. Qian will play India's Manika Batra in the quarterfinals.

Another Chinese Chen Xingtong got into trouble facing Egyptian teenager Hana Goda and trailed 8-6 in the opener. The second seed hit the net to lose the game 11-6. Goda then took the second 12-10.
Chen claimed the third game 11-5 when Goda hit long. But the 16-year-old Egyptian completed the upset by winning the fourth 11-7 to advanced to the quarterfinals where she will face Chinese Taipei's Cheng I-Ching.

On the men's side, China's top seed Lin Shidong started well against South Korea's Oh Jun-Sung. The 19-year-old Chinese took the opening game 11-7 with a quick backhand.
Oh fights back in the second and the world number 31 won it 11-9 when Lin hit wide. But Lin righted the ship by dominating the third 11-4.
World number two Lin bulleted a backhand winner to reach match point. Lin won the fourth game 11-7 to reach the quarterfinals where he will face Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-Ju.
