Uzbekistan's ruling party is leading the country's parliamentary election held on Sunday, during which voters are electing members of the lower house of parliament, the head of the Uzbek election authority said on Monday. Five political parties are competing for 150 seats in the country's legislative chamber. A total of 15,027,529 voters voted in the election, constituting a voter turnout of 74.72 percent. The election serves as an important indicator of Uzbekistan's political trajectory in the future. The result may re-define the country's vision on diplomatic affairs, including how it engages with China. CGTN's reporter Liu Jiaxin observed the voting process in its capital, Tashkent.
