The Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy carried out its first dual aircraft carrier formation exercise, deploying the Liaoning and Shandong in the South China Sea.
Aimed at enhancing integrated combat capabilities, the exercise was part of the Liaoning's routine real-combat training, spanning the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and South China Sea. The training included multiple real-combat scenarios, with J-15 fighter jets taking off from the Liaoning's deck to perform drills in designated airspace.
The Liaoning was commissioned in 2012 as China's first aircraft carrier.
