The Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping's remarks during his meeting with Sam Hou Fai, who was recently elected as the chief executive of the Macao SAR and appointed by China's central government, inspire and provide direction for Macao to continue writing a new chapter in the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems."
Xi's important remarks underscore the central government's deep commitment to the Macao Special Administrative Region and its high regard for the appointment of the new chief executive, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson expressed confidence that the new chief executive will unite and lead the SAR government and all sectors of Macao society, deeply study and effectively implement the spirit of Xi's remarks, consistently adhere to the correct path and direction of "One Country, Two Systems," and fully leverage Macao's unique position and advantages.
This will open a new chapter in the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" in Macao, fulfilling the high expectations of Xi and the central government, the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also reaffirmed the Liaison Office's unwavering support for the chief executive and the Macao SAR government in governing in accordance with the law, and upholding Macao's long-term prosperity and stability. The spokesperson emphasized that, together with all sectors of Macao's society, they look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland and advancing the successful implementation of "One Country, Two Systems" on this new journey in the new era.
