Finland's government announced on Friday that Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will attend the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.

"China is an important trading partner for Finland, so it is useful to support export promotion and trade in sectors that benefit Finnish businesses. This is the fourth time that Finland has a national pavilion at the CIIE," Tavio stated in a press release.

The release also noted that Shanghai is home to the largest cluster of Finnish businesses in China.

Tavio will lead a Finnish trade delegation in China from November 4 to 8. After engagements in Shanghai, the delegation will travel to Shenzhen in southern China, concluding their visit in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The seventh CIIE is set to take place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10. The event has attracted participants from 152 countries, regions and international organizations, and has set a new record with 297 Fortune Global 500 companies and industry leaders confirmed to attend.

Since its inaugural edition in 2018, the expo has evolved into a significant platform that highlights China's new development paradigm, promotes high-standard opening up, and offers opportunities for global trade.

Preparations for the event are nearly complete, He Yadong, spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce, said on Thursday.

Foreign bank cards will be accepted for catering payments at the CIIE. Additionally, the expo will feature a 5,000-square-meter catering zone and provide food delivery services to all booths, the spokesperson added.
