The German Foreign Ministry says it will shut all three Iranian consulates on its territory. It says this is in response to the execution of a German-Iranian dual national, Jamshid Sharmahd. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said her country's relations with Iran are already more than at a low point. Iranian state media said Sharmahd was convicted of carrying out terrorist attacks. Iran's foreign minister has condemned Germany's move.
