Editor's Note: Finland was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China in 1950 and the first Western country to sign an intergovernmental trade agreement with China in 1953. Building on this traditional friendship, both countries have just issued a joint action plan on promoting the future-oriented new-type cooperative partnership (2025-2029). How will this breakthrough translate on the ground and further deepen China-Finland relations? In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG's Zou Yun sat down in Beijing with Alexander Stubb, President of Finland, during his first state visit to China from October 28 to 31, to take the pulse of the bilateral relations going forward and discuss Finland's stance on China and issues of mutual interests. Stubbs remarks that China is a "patient power" and says that conversational chemistry was good during his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. "Leadership is endurance, perseverance and grit," he explains.
