In August 2024, South Africa became the third African country, after Kenya and Tanzania, to gain eligibility for exporting fresh avocados to China. On October 10, Shanghai's Yangshan Port received the first shipment of 22 tonnes of South African avocados. A CGTN stringer spoke with several South Africans, asking them to guess the number of avocados in this batch and discuss the most popular South African products among Chinese consumers.
