The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired several short-range ballistic missiles towards the sea off the eastern coast of the Korean Peninsula, the Republic of Korea (ROK)'s Joint Chiefs of Staff said on Tuesday.
The missiles were launched at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday from near Sariwon, North Hwanghae Province in the DPRK. The Joint Chiefs of Staff added that they were closely sharing information with the United States and Japan while bolstering surveillance.
The Japanese government also flagged the launch. Japan's coast guard announced that the projectile, believed to be a ballistic missile, had already fallen, and NHK reported it appeared to have landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone in the ocean.
