In the reservoirs of Yinjiang, Guizhou Province, locals were delighted to find more than a hundred mandarin ducks spending the winter there. Well cared for by the locals, mandarin ducks – a second-class protected animal in China – are usually spotted in pairs. The appearance of the ducks also seemed to indicate that the area was in good environmental condition.
