Pohang Steelers of South Korea's K League 1 defeated Shangdong Taishan from the Chinese Super League (CSL) 4-2 at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Elite in Pohang, South Korea, on Wednesday.
The home team scored from a free kick in the 30th minute as Jeong Jae-Hee blew the ball into Shandong's goal for his side to lead 1-0. Three minutes later, Shandong tied the score from a corner kick after Chen Pu converted a header pass by Gao Zhunyi into a goal for the game to remain tied before the break.
During the second half, Pohang had three shots on target in 12 minutes. Jorge Teixeira's shot in the 64th minute was touched but not stopped by goalie Wang Dalei, making the hosts lead again. Four minutes later, Teixeira set up for Wanderson to net and extend their lead to 3-1. Shandong's nightmare was ended by Oberdan, who assisted Teixeira's goal, and added a fourth for Pohang with the help of Wanderson in the 76th minute, making it a three-goal lead for his side.
Bi Jinhao scored a face-saving goal for Shandong during stoppage time after beating the goalkeeper for a header, but couldn't stop his team from suffering their second loss of four games.
In the other two games on the night, Al Nassr walked over Al Ain 5-1 at home. Yokohama F. Marinos secured a an easy win over Buriram United 5-0.
