China's economic engagement with other Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members continues to grow, with APEC economies playing a crucial role in China's trade and investment landscape.
In 2023, China's trade volume with other APEC members reached $3.5 trillion, making up 59 percent of the country's total trade volume. Notably, nine of China's top 10 trading partners were APEC members, underscoring the forum's importance in driving China's economic interactions globally.
Investment from APEC economies also plays a significant role in China's economic development. In 2023, 81.8 percent of China's total foreign investment came from APEC members, with five of China's top 10 investment sources being APEC economies. The APEC region has also been a key destination for Chinese outbound investment, with 80.2 percent of China's FDI committed to APEC members. Six of China's top 10 destinations for outbound investment were APEC members, reflecting strong economic cooperation across the Asia-Pacific region.
