Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the level of mutual trust between Russia and China has reached an all-time high and emphasized that their cooperation is not directed against any third party, including the United States.

Putin made these remarks during the plenary session of the Valdai Discussion Club's annual meeting on Thursday while responding to questions about the China-Russia relationship.

He explained that a strong foundation of mutual trust has elevated Russia-China relations to an unprecedented level. Their collaboration spans various sectors, including energy and high technology, where both countries' efforts complement each other.

Putin highlighted China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), describing it as aligned with the interests of both nations. He further noted that a stable political and economic environment in Central Asia benefits Russia's strategic interests, adding that there is no competition between Russia and China in the region, only cooperation.

He reiterated that the Russia-China partnership is not aimed at countering any other country. The primary goal of their cooperation is to support national development and create conditions for the safety and security of their people. Putin reaffirmed that Russia is not aligning with any nation to oppose another.

Additionally, Putin emphasized that growing cooperation between Russia and China contributes to regional and global stability. He said their joint military exercises focus on safeguarding their own security and do not pose a threat to East Asia.

Putin said that increasing tensions in the Asia-Pacific region are largely due to provocations by the West, including NATO's actions and regular U.S.-Japan military drills.

The Russian president also criticized the Taiwan region for escalating tensions in the Asia-Pacific to attract outside support. He voiced firm support for the one-China policy.
