With just one year to go until the 15th China National Games, organizers are increasingly confident in their ability to host a smooth and environmentally friendly showcase event. Scheduled to take place from November 9 to 21, 2025, this edition will be historic as it marks the first time Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will co-host the Games together.

The National Games, held every four years, represents the highest level and largest national multi-sports event in China. The 2025 edition will feature 34 major events and 401 smaller competitions. Notably, the men's road cycling individual trial will serve as a connecting event among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, while the marathon will link Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Preparations are well underway, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen having completed the drafts for the opening and closing ceremonies. The design for the torch relay, logo collection, and transportation arrangements for the Games are also progressing smoothly. Volunteer recruitment commenced this month, with training set to begin in January.

Organizers have emphasized their commitment to a green approach for this year's Games. "We are implementing the idea of energy conservation, environment protection and sustainable development throughout the whole process for holding the Games," stated Cui Jian, Vice Chief of the Guangdong Competition Zone Executive Committee. "On one hand, we will reconstruct existing stadiums to make them green and low-carbon and all of them will put into use by March, while on the other hand, we are paying attention to the re-use of the venues after the Games, considering the demands of national fitness."

To mark the one-year countdown, an event will be held at the Asian Games Park in Guangzhou on Saturday night.
