Central and southeastern Hainan Province are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall from November 11 to 12 due to the impact of Typhoon Yinxing, according to a report released on Sunday by China's Ministry of Water Resources.
Minor rises in water levels are also anticipated in the Wanquan River, Changhua River, and other coastal rivers.
In response to the typhoon situation, the Ministry of Water Resources is closely monitoring the movement paths of Yinxing. The ministry will conduct daily discussions and assessments and promptly inform the Hainan Provincial Water Resources Department of rainfall forecasts and meeting results.
The ministry also called for accelerating repairs to damaged water infrastructure, enhancing mountain flood prevention measures, improving evacuation plans for at-risk areas, and optimizing reservoir operations to balance flood control and water storage.
The Ministry of Water Resources has deployed a team to Hainan to support flood control operations, officials said. Hainan's water resources department has been working to identify and address risks in water infrastructure and is preparing reservoirs for potential flooding.
As of 10 a.m. on November 10, Typhoon Yinxing was centered about 245 kilometers southeast of Sansha City, Hainan, and it's expected to move southwest at 5-10 kilometers per hour.
