The Chinese have been visiting Peru since the first half of the 19th century. Today, nearly 3 million of the 34 million Peruvians are of Chinese descent. The Spanish word "paisano" is also used to refer to Peruvians of Chinese ancestry. They are Peruvians with a Chinese heart.
