Space technology is not just for scientists and astronauts, it is increasingly touching the lives of ordinary people across Latin America. From precise weather forecasting that safeguards agriculture to disaster response systems that mitigate the impact of natural calamities, the benefits are far-reaching.

As China and Latin American nations deepen their space cooperation, they are not only exploring the cosmos but also improving the lives of millions on Earth.

China and Latin America share a rich history of collaborative space endeavors. The successful launch of the China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite (CBERS) series is a prime example of this fruitful partnership. The CBERS project, launched back in 1988 with six satellites co-developed by China and Brazil over more than three decades, has provided invaluable data for sectors like agriculture, urban planning, and disaster monitoring, particularly benefiting developing nations.

The cooperation between China and Venezuela has also yielded significant results. The launch of VENESAT-1 and the VRSS satellites has enhanced Venezuela's telecommunications and remote sensing capabilities, contributing to economic growth and social development.

Argentina, too, has been a partner with China in space, particularly in satellite navigation. This collaboration underscores the growing importance of space technology in regional development.

As space exploration advances, the sustainable management of space resources has emerged as an important issue. The ongoing APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Lima provides an ideal platform for discussing these challenges.

By working together, APEC member economies can help shape the future of space exploration and ensure that its benefits are shared by all.
