Chinese President Xi Jinping met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday.
Noting that the world has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation, Xi said that China and the UK, both as permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and major global economies, share the responsibility of advancing their respective national development and addressing global challenges.
The two sides should aim to promote development, serve the people and benefit the world, remain positioned as strategic partners, adhere to mutual respect, open cooperation, exchanges, and mutual learning, achieve mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, and chart a new course for China-UK relations amid global changes, he added.
