This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil. The two countries established formal diplomatic relations on August 15, 1974. In 1993, China and Brazil built a strategic partnership and the relationship was upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012.
Over the years, the two countries have deepened cooperation in various fields, including trade and people-to-people exchanges. China has been Brazil's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years, with the bilateral trade value reaching $181.5 billion in 2023, a 6.1 percent increase year on year.
