China, Argentina vow to jointly support high-quality development of BRI

China and Argentina vowed to jointly support the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative during the meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Argentine President Javier Milei on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday.

President Xi hailed the traditional friendship between the two countries, noting that the two sides celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership this year. 

Highlighting the cooperative prospects ahead, Xi said China and Argentina's economic and trade structures are highly complementary and expressed hope that the South American country can seize the opportunities brought by China's reform and opening up and continue to expand its market share in China.

Xi added that he hopes the two sides can expand cooperation in areas such as energy, mineral infrastructure, agriculture, science and technology, and the digital economy.

For his part, Milei spoke highly of China's role in helping his country stabilize its current economic situation.

Expressing hope that Argentina can be China's reliable and stable partner, Milei said he welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in his country.
