Media campaign kicks off to promote youth exchanges in Global South

A media campaign aimed at promoting youth exchanges among countries in the Global South was launched on Monday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

China Media Group (CMG), the youth engagement group of the Group of 20 (G20) – Y20 – and Brazil's General Secretariat of the Presidency jointly launched the campaign.

An initiative by 215 media organizations from 74 countries to promote media cooperation among countries in the Global South was also announced at the launch ceremony.

During his speech, CMG President Shen Haixiong said the campaign aims at building a platform where young people in the Global South could march forward together in such fields as media and communications, art creation, social research, and sports exchanges.

CMG and local youth and sports organizations in the Americas also reached various cooperation agreements in sports broadcasting.

Nearly 200 representatives from government, media, and cultural and business institutions in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and other countries attended the event.
