8 soldiers killed, 7 policemen kidnapped in Pakistan: AFP

Eight soldiers were killed and seven police officers kidnapped in two attacks in northwest Pakistan, AFP reported on Tuesday, citing police and intelligence officials.

A Monday clash resulted in the deaths of "eight soldiers" and "nine militants," an intelligence officer said on condition of anonymity. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility. 

In a separate attack, "seven police officers were kidnapped," a senior police official told AFP, also speaking anonymously.
