Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva attended a signing ceremony and jointly met the press in Brasilia, Brazil, on Wednesday.
Xi said the two presidents both believe that China-Brazil relations are at their best level in history, and have jointly decided to elevate their ties to a China-Brazil community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet.
The two presidents agreed that it is important to continually deepen strategic mutual trust, firmly support each other on issues involving core interests such as sovereignty, security and development interests, and contribute to each other's high-quality development.
The two presidents also agreed to effectively synergize the development strategies of the two countries, deepen cooperation in priority areas such as economy and trade, finance, science and technology, infrastructure and environmental protection, and strengthen cooperation in emerging fields such as energy transition, the digital economy, artificial intelligence and green mining.
Additionally, the two presidents agreed to maintain close cooperation in multilateral forums such as the UN, the G20 and BRICS, jointly tackle traditional and nontraditional security challenges such as hunger and poverty, regional conflicts, climate change and cyber security, and make new contributions to world peace and development.
The two presidents also expressed concerns about the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine. Xi stressed that only by embracing the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security can countries find a path to universal security.
The Chinese president called for more voices committed to peace to be gathered to pave the way for a political solution to the Ukraine crisis, and urged a ceasefire in Gaza, the implementation of the two-state solution, and unremitting efforts for a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question.
