Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Brazil's capital, Brasilia, on Tuesday for a state visit.

Upon arrival, Xi was welcomed by senior Brazilian officials, including Rui Costa, chief of staff of the Presidency of Brazil, and Justice Minister Ricardo Lewandowski.

He was also greeted by artists performing Brazilian drum music.

Xi's entourage includes Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and foreign minister.

During Xi's journey from the airport to his hotel, representatives of the local Chinese community, Chinese enterprises and Chinese students gathered along the roadside, waving the national flags of China and Brazil. They also held red banners with messages welcoming Xi and hailing China-Brazil relations.

Xi arrived in Brasília after departing Rio de Janeiro, where he had attended the 19th G20 Summit.
