The 6th Human Space Symposium is underway in South China's Shenzhen, with some 800 experts attending. Professor Sun Qingping from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology told CGTN that the region is establishing a space robotics and energy center to better take part in national space endeavors.
SUN QINGPING Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology "Hong Kong's participation in the nation's space development has grown. The Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre being established by the Hong Kong government is part of a large-scale scientific and technological innovation R&D platform in Hong Kong. It is also the largest and most resource-intensive space technology R&D project in Hong Kong's history. This project will cultivate the ecosystem of space science research in Hong Kong, drive related high-tech industries, and promote STEM education in Hong Kong, among other things. The unprecedented momentum of the national space program also provides an excellent opportunity for Hong Kong's scientific community to participate in the development of the nation's space endeavors. Hong Kong can fully leverage its unique advantages in many areas to contribute to the national space program."
